Volvo XC90 Recognized by Experts At AJAC

Volvo Canada is delighted to announce that the XC90 has been crowned Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2023 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). Following in the footsteps of its smaller sibling, the XC40 Recharge, which won AJAC's Green Utility Vehicle of the Year award for 2022, this accolade further cements Volvo's status as a leader in automotive innovation and quality. According to experts at AJAC, rigorous evaluation of vehicles throughout the year in Canadian conditions allows consumers and potential buyers to gain insight into what options and factors should be considered when looking for a new car.

The 2023 Canadian Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards have been a close-fought battle with vehicles ranging from newly redesigned to refreshed and even carryovers from previous model years. With over 1700 ballots cast by AJAC experts, who evaluated each entry on parameters like acceleration, braking, dynamics and maneuverability (as well as off-road capability where appropriate), the XC90 was finally crowned Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2023. Combining style, luxury appointments and important standard safety features, the XC90 is undoubtedly a worthy winner of this title.

“We’re pleased to see the continued recognition from the experts at AJAC,” said Matt Girgis, managing director, Volvo Car Canada Ltd. “With its long and esteemed history, the XC90 continues to impress, and we are thrilled to add this award to what has become a growing list of accolades for our brand.”

2023 Volvo XC90

As announced by Volvo Canada, all cars in Canada for the 2023 model year will be outfitted with mild-hybrid, hybrid or electric powertrains with built-in Google features. This includes their top model XC90 SUV fitted with the standard B6 mild hybrid motor alongside its already established extended-range plug-in hybrid powertrain, which pushes 455 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 5.3 seconds while offering a full electric amount of 53 kilometres per charge. Thanks to Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play integration, drivers can enjoy an incredibly helpful and connected driving experience.

The Volvo XC90 has earned the prestigious title of Best Large Premium Utility Vehicle in Canada for 2023 thanks to its impressive combination of style, luxury and standard safety features. With mild-hybrid or electric powertrains available depending on trim level, as well as Google Built-in integration that offers a truly connected driving experience, it's no wonder why so many Canadians have chosen this model over others. The experts at AJAC clearly agree with their decision, and we can only expect more awards like this from Volvo in the future.
