Volvo Car Canada Unveils XC60 Black Edition for 2024 Lineup

In a noteworthy update to its range of luxury SUVs, Volvo Car Canada has introduced a new Black Edition of its award-winning XC60 for the 2024 model year. This variant will be available exclusively with the high-end Ultimate equipment level and is set to go on sale soon, with deliveries commencing in early 2024.

The Black Edition builds on the existing popularity of the XC60, a staple in Volvo Cars’ lineup for over 15 years and the recipient of the 2018 World Car of the Year accolade. It introduces new aesthetic choices that blend stealthy flair with sportiness. The vehicle will feature an Onyx Black exterior and multiple exclusive black details including a glossy black iron mark logo, a Volvo spread word mark, and unique 21-inch 5-Double Spoke High Gloss Black Alloy wheels.

The interiors are no less impressive, following the Scandinavian-inspired design language of Volvo. Buyers can choose between two types of premium seat upholstery—Charcoal Ventilated Nappa Leather or Nappa Leather/Leatherette/Textile Sport Seats. Each option is designed to offer a dynamic and sophisticated cockpit-like experience. Complementary features like metal mesh aluminum decor, a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors, and a 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display with built-in Google functionality further enhance the luxurious feel inside the vehicle.

Reflecting the automaker’s commitment to sustainability, Volvo will provide two hybrid powertrain options for the XC60 Black Edition. The XC60 Recharge Black Edition T8 boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 312 hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 143 hp electric motor, powered by an 18.8 kWh high voltage battery. This setup provides up to 58 kms of fully electric range in Pure mode. On the other hand, the XC60 B5 AWD Black Edition employs Volvo’s mild hybrid technology to balance performance and eco-conscious driving.

Pricing for the XC60 B5 AWD Ultimate Black Edition starts at $68,950, while the XC60 T8 Recharge Ultimate Black Edition has a starting MSRP of $83,950.

This announcement aligns with Volvo’s broader electrification strategy, which saw the introduction of two new powertrains for its fully electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge models and the unveiling of two new fully electric SUVs—the EX90 and EX30—as part of Volvo’s roadmap to becoming fully electric by 2030 and carbon neutral by 2040.
