Three Reasons to Buy a Volvo XC60 Instead of a Mercedes-Benz GLC

XC60 owners across Canada are enjoying one of the best midsize luxury SUVs on the road. This European best-seller is making a global impact with advanced powertrains and tech, outstanding comfort, and award-winning safety. And now with a $1,500 rebate for a limited time, the XC60 has another big reason for you to own it.

The competition within the segment also challenges every vehicle to live up to the challenge. Here, we explore three reasons to buy a Volvo XC60 instead of a Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers power with a better focus on efficiency

The XC60 features three powertrains with advancements that improve efficiency. The T5 system in the Momentum includes a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that generates a solid 250 horsepower. Although the Momentum and the GLC 300 have nearly identical output, this XC60 is more efficient at 11.1/8.3 L/100 km (city/highway).

The XC60's T6-equipped trims use a boosted four-cylinder that results in 316 horsepower. If you want a hybrid choice, the XC60's T8-powered Recharge hybrid system generates 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque (even more in the Polestar Engineered variant) with a fuel economy rating of just 9.8/8.7 L/100 km. This is the best fuel economy in this comparison.

Mercedes-Benz moves remaining GLC models to its AMG lineup. The GLC 43 produces 15 less horsepower than the T8 XC60 while consuming fuel at a much higher 13.1/9.6 L/100 km. The GLC 63 S has the most power, but its fuel economy rating goes through the ceiling at 15.0/10.9 L/100 km.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 is roomier

Every luxury SUV must pass the comfort test, but some models fare better than others. The XC60 has more room for passengers than the Mercedes-Benz GLC. You can also USE the 1,792 litres of cargo volume behind the front seats, which adds up to nearly 200 more than the GLC.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 has a list of exclusive features

The XC60 offers unique equipment that you won't find in the GLC. This includes a unique Scandinavian design inside, of course, but also advanced features like the Pilot Assist system, which scans the distance to the vehicle ahead and the lane's side markings on the road surface to maintain speed and provide steering assistance.

Finally, you can lease the XC60 from 2.9% and save $1,500 thanks to a limited time lease offer provided through Volvo Car Canada. You can shop for your car online with us. Our representatives are waiting for your call and can answer all your questions.
