Three Reasons to Buy a Volvo XC60 Instead of a BMW X3

The Volvo XC60 incorporates all the elements an award-winning luxury SUV should include. It delivers maximum performance with an extensive choice of powertrains, exclusive technologies and safety expertise earned from generations of experience. The XC60 also includes unique Scandinavian styling that you won’t find in any other SUV in the segment.

Here are three reasons why you should opt for the 2021 Volvo XC60 instead of the 2021 BMW X3.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers excellent efficiency

The XC60 offers three powertrain options. The base engine outputs 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque using a turbo 2.0L four-cylinder. XC60 trims equipped with the T6 powertrain deliver 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, the T8-equipped XC60 Recharge offers a premium hybrid system that generates 400 horsepower and outstanding efficiency.

The standard X3 2.0-litre model delivers virtually the same output as the XC60's base engine. The X3 M40i increases to 385 horsepower, but it doesn't quite catch the XC60 Recharge in power, torque, and efficiency.

The X3's xDrive30e hybrid model only delivers 288 net horsepower, which is 112 horsepower less than the XC60’s hybrid powertrain. Moreover, the xDrive30e consumes more in the city with a rating of 11.1 L/100 km, whereas the XC60 Recharge achieves a better efficiency of 9.1 L/100 km.

The X3 has M models on the menu, but they come with a hefty price tag and the slight power increase isn’t worth the premium.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers more space for passengers

With more generous legroom in the front and rear seats, the XC60 offers a great comfort advantage to its occupants. The XC60 also features more shoulder room in both the front and rear seats and more cargo volume behind the front seats. Even if you don't have a growing family, the XC60 is ready to accommodate everyone and everything.

The 2021 Volvo XC60 offers more style and technologies

While the BMW X3 resembles every other German-made SUV with conventional styling and basic interior themes, the XC60 adopts a much more original approach using natural, yet very upscale materials and textures to craft a unique Scandinavian interior that enhances driving experience. Thanks to the intuitive infotainment system and technologies like Pilot Assist, the XC60 moves ahead of the X3 in terms of tech.
