How Charging Your Volvo C40 Recharge Is Now Easier Than Ever

While the battery technology packed into the handsome shape of the all-new Volvo C40 Recharge, range anxiety is quickly becoming a thing of the past. It packs 364 km of range from its 78 kWh battery, so you know you’re covered for the length of the average Canadian drive.

Of course, as advanced as it’s become, EV tech still has its limitations. We at Volvo are here to help you how best to not let those limitations get in the way of blissful, gas-free EV driving,

Firstly, the C40 itself has a specific drive mode to help you get the most out of the powertrain – it’s called one-pedal drive, and it’s achieved by automatically reversing the EV motor as soon as you release the throttle pedal. So, you’ll be charging your battery and since you’ll also be slowing down – all the way to zero, if the situation dictates – via the powertrain, you won’t have to be relying quite so heavily on your pads and discs, prolonging brake life.

Chances are, though, you’ll have to plug in to charge eventually and there are many ways to do so. The C40 Recharge can be charged via 110V household outlet, but this does take some time. What many EV owners are doing is installing level II 240V home chargers or making use of other level II units spread across Canada in everything from dedicated charge stations to retail parking lots.

Finally, there’s the “grand poobah” of charging: level III DC fast chargers. These are not yet available to be installed in homes, but the number of charge networks that do support them – Petro-Canada, Electrify Canada, Flo, and more – is ever-growing and they can charge your C40 from 10 per cent battery to 80 per cent in about 40 minutes. Simply plug in, go grab a bite at the number of restaurants and stores that tend to surround charge stations, and you’re good to go!
